VISITORS
We welcome over 75,000 visitors to Burford Church each year from around the globe. With around 850 years of history to explore, and listed in Simon Jenkins’ “England’s Thousand Best Churches” as one of only 18 five star churches, Burford Church is a must see for any visitor to the Cotswolds.
OPENING TIMES
The church is visited by over 75,000 people each year and has many unique features, which are covered in more detail in our heritage section. The building is open to visiting Monday - Saturday from 10am-4pm and Sunday from 1pm-4pm (excluding Christmas, Easter and New Years Day). Visitors are welcome to join us for one of our services on a Sunday Morning too - see here for details.
Do note that there are occasions when the church will be unavailable for visits because of Services or other events. If you have a particular date in mind when you would like to visit, do please contact the Church Office in advance to check availability.
Dates when the church will not be open for visitors:
August 19th: Closed after 12:30
September 10th: Closed all day
September 22nd: Closed all day
INFORMATION AND TOURS
We provide free printed tour guides in many languages and our duty verger is always happy to answer questions on the building or the activities held here.
We welcome tour parties from all over the world. We can, with advance notice, arrange for one of our highly knowledgeable Vergers to act as a Tour Guide to ensure your tour party makes the most of your time at the church.
We would be grateful for a donation to help in covering the extensive costs of keeping open the building to members of the public. If you would like guidance on this please contact the Church Office .
