St john the baptist, Burford exists to delight in God's love and to share it with others.
We hold a number of Sunday Services and our hope is that everyone is able to worship in a style which is comfortable for them, whether traditional liturgy or livelier modern worship. Whatever the style, we aim to keep the substance constant: faithful, bible-based teaching and heartfelt worship as we seek to delight in God's love and to share it with others.
The 8.00 Communion Service follows the traditional liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer.
The 9.30 Service uses more modern liturgy in a traditional setting. Traditional hymns are sung, accompanied by an organ and/or choir.
The 11.00 Service is intended to be more informal. We sing contemporary songs, accompanied by a band. Families enjoy worshipping together for the first part of the Service before the children and youth leave for or Creche (0 - 2s), JAM (3 - 10s), or Rock Solid (11 - 18s). On the 4th Sunday of each month, we hold a Praise Party for the children and young people with their families in the Warwick Hall and The Event for older teens in the evening.
Holy Communion is celebrated at all three services at various times during the month. We welcome all who love the Lord to share in the bread and wine at His table, although we will happily offer you a blessing if you would prefer. Gluten-free wafers or non-alcoholic wine are available.
More information about our service times and topics can be found on the term card which can be downloaded on the below.
